30,000 eyes and 4 different mouths
Their head is usually where their eyes, antennae and mouthpieces are!
Eyes: Most insects have a pair of large eyes. These eyes have very small units called ommatidia, that look like solar pannels. Dragonflies, for example, have over 30,000!
Antennae: Some people call them 'feelers'. They are the part of insect's body used for sensing the environment. Flies can have from 3 to 6 segments in their antennas, while cockroaches can have over 140. That's why their reflexes are so fast. There are more than 13 different types and styles of antennae!
Mouthpieces: There are 4 different types of mouthpieces - Mandibulate (for biting and breaking, like the beetle), Piercing-sucking (to penetrate solid structure and suck liquid, like mosquitoes), Sponging (sponge and suck liquids, like bees and flies) and Siphoning (to suck liquids only, like moths and butterflies).
